Blood

  • Blood is a fluid connective tissue. 45% blood cells ( 44 % RBCs and 1 % platelets & WBCs) and 55% plasma. Osmotic pressure is 25mmHg , an adult contains 5 - 6 liters of blood (1/10 of body wt.) pH 7.35-7.45 (slightly alkaline), Specific gravity 1.050- 1.060


  • Plasma : Contains 90 - 92 % Water , it contains plasma protein.

  • Albumin :  ( synthesized in liver ) - maintains Osmotic pressure

  • Globulin : ( synthesized in liver & lymphoid tissue ) - Responsible for immune system of the body.


  • Fibrinogen :( synthesized in liver ) - Helps in coagulation of blood
